Why Teachers Teach

Last year (in my former district) I taught one section of sophomore world history. I loved the school and, generally speaking, the school loved me. I just received an e-mail from a student who was in that world history class.

He says,

"Hi Mr. Reflective Educator,

This is world history student from ----------- high... we heard that you quited your job.... and i was wondering if your coming back to teach us our senior year????"

Although apparently I didn't do much in the way of helping him with proper grammar/punctuation, the implied appreciation is enough to make me feel like this job is totally worth it.
